The Regular Season Football pool is 2 separate contests. 1. Straight up (SU) ( pick all games Straight up without using point spreads) Person with the most wins takes it. There will be a weekly winner after the last game every week and an overall season champion. Ties for the weekly contests will be decided by the tiebreaker number. 2. Against the Spread (ATS) ( pick a minimum of 5 games using point spread )Everyone must play the Monday Night Game or the last game of the week. Monday Night Game is included as 1 of the 5 minimum. You must play at least 4 games on Sunday and everyone plays Monday Night. No Maximum on the number of games you pick, Pick as many games as you would like. Winner of this pool is decided by highest winning % percentage. There will be a weekly winner after the last game every week and an overall season champion. Ties for the weekly contests will be decided by the tiebreaker number. Combined score, both teams, last game of the week. (Typically the Monday night game) Ties for the season contest will be a Tie. PICKS Send me your Picks via the Picks Page http://www.nflswamis.com/picks.htm Call me on the phone if you have to. I prefer the Picks Page. 440 725-9324 If something is wrong with the Picks page (which has been known to happen) Email poolmaster@nflswamis.com or call 440 725-9324.
Picks must be received ON TIME, No Excuses. Picks that are not received on time will not be allowed.
Here is the definition of what is considered on time. All Picks for all Sunday games must be received before the opening kickoff of the first game on Sunday. All Picks for all Monday games must be received before the opening kickoff of the first game on Monday. All Picks for all Thursday games must be received before the opening kickoff of the first Thursday game. All Picks for all Saturday games must be received before the opening kickoff of the first Saturday game. Same with Tues, Weds, Fri. Picks for the 4 PM Sunday games are due at 1 PM on Sunday Picks for the 8:15 PM Sunday game are due at 1 PM on Sunday
Point spreads I am going to need to use a cut off time for those point spreads (like 3 hours before game time) since those spreads can continue to change right up until game time. I mean the numbers can sometimes change by a half or a full point a minute before kickoff and I (and probably you also) don’t want any line changes that close to game time when everyone already has their picks in. So right now the point spread numbers will finalized 3 hours before game time. That, of course, also means all the spreads for all that days games are final at 10AM EST for all Sunday games, since I am requiring you to submit picks, for all those games by 1 PM kickoff. The spreads for the 4PM games are final at 10 AM EST. The spreads for the Sunday Night game is final at 10 AM EST.
Posting Picks to Web Page Picks will be posted to the web shortly after the kickoff of that days games except the Monday Night Game (explained below). Monday Night picks will be posted starting after the completion of Sundays Games and as they come in after that. I will try to update the Standings shortly after the completion of the days games.
Monday Night Football Going "Opposite Leader" In order to make the Weekly contest, (Monday Night game) a little more interesting, people in contention for the weekly contest, are given the option to "go the opposite" of the leader. Weekly leaders no longer need to conceal their picks until 1 second before Monday Night kickoff. It doesn't matter. Competitors will be allowed to go the opposite of the leader, no matter what the leader picks or at what time he picks. Just click on the "opposite leader" button or type "opposite leader" in the comments box at the bottom of the picks page. This eliminates the need for any Monday Night subterfuge and delaying tactics by Weekly leaders, and assures that the weekly contests are decided by the play on the field during the Monday Night game and not by the weekly leader withholding his pick until a second before kickoff. There will be only 1 "opposite leader" game per week. If there are 2 or more leaders, and these leaders choose opposite teams, and you choose "opposite Leader", you basically have no pick. So you also need to make a pick. Otherwise you lose, no matter who wins the game.
Week #17 There will be no "opposite leader" involving the Season Pools in week 17 or any other week. All Week 17 games are all on Sunday so you can't go "opposite leader" for the weekly contest. either. Since their are 3 last games of the week for week 17, I chose the Was at SF game as the tiebreaker game simply because it was the last game listed on the schedule.
Playoff Payoff You can go"opposite leader" for the Super Bowl, for the same reasons as the Monday Night Games stated above.
