Football Pool Rules

Updated Friday, August 31, 2018

Regular Season Pool

Weeks 1 thru 17 of the NFL Season

The Regular Season Football pool is 2 separate contests.

1. Straight up (SU)

2. Against the Spread (ATS)

Straight up (SU)

Pick ALL games Straight up ( No point spreads). Swami with the most wins takes it.

There will be a weekly winner declared after the last game of every week,  and an overall Season champion at the regular season's end.

Ties for the weekly contests will be decided by the tiebreaker number. Combined score, both teams, last game of the week. (Typically the Monday night game)

Ties for the season contest will be considered a Tie and the prize will be split.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Pick a minimum of 5 games using the point spread

Everyone must play the designated Required ATS game.

The Required ATS game will be the final game of the week, which is almost always the Monday Night Game unless the NFL schedule dictates otherwise.

The mandatory ATS game is the second and final MNF game in Week 1 and the Sunday night Football game in Week 17.

The Monday Night Game is included as 1 of the 5 minimum.  So, you must play a minimum 4 games during a given week plus the Required ATS Game.

No Maximum on the number of games you pick.

Winner of this pool is decided by highest winning % percentage.

Point Spreads determined by The Westgate Superbook. Official line of The NFL Swamis

Playoff Payoff Pool

Wildcard Weekend thru Super Bowl

Pick ALL games Straight up and ATS.

The Straight up and ATS standings are combined and whoever has the most wins takes it.

No weekly winners, just a 4 week, 11 game (22 picks) shootout culminating with the Super Bowl

Ties for the Playoff contest will be a Tie.

Point Spreads determined by The Westgate Superbook. Official line of The NFL Swamis

Monday Night picks will be posted  starting after the completion of Sundays Games and as they come in after that.

I will try to update the Standings shortly after the completion of the days games.

Monday Night Football  Going "Opposite Leader"

In order to make the Weekly contest, (Monday Night game) a little more interesting, people in contention for the weekly contest, are given the option to "go the opposite" of the leader. Weekly leaders no longer need to conceal their picks until 1 second before Monday Night kickoff. It doesn't matter.

Competitors will be allowed to go the opposite of the leader, no matter what the leader picks or at what time he picks.

Just click on the "opposite leader" button or type "opposite leader" in the comments box at the bottom of the picks page.

This eliminates the need for any Monday Night subterfuge and delaying tactics by Weekly leaders, and assures that the weekly contests are decided by the play on the field during the Monday Night game and not by the weekly leader withholding his pick until a second before kickoff.

There will be only 1 "opposite leader" game per week.

If there are 2 or more leaders, and these leaders choose opposite teams, and you choose "opposite Leader", you basically have no pick. So you also need to make a pick. Otherwise you lose, no matter who wins the game.

Opposite Leader will only be be used when player has a chance to win the weekly pot. If player has no chance at winning pot, the normal pick will be used and the Opposite leader selection will be disregarded.

Week #17

Opposite leader does not pertain to the Season Pools in week 17 or any other week. Weekly Pool only..

Playoff Payoff

You can go "opposite leader" for the Super Bowl, for the same reasons as the Monday Night Games stated above.
